After a 39 year hiatus, the 2011 Stanley Cup returned to the Boston Bruins led by Conn Smythe Trophy winner Tim Thomas. Thomas became only the second American-born NHL player to ever win the award, and the first in the past seventeen years. In the seventh and deciding game of the series vs. the Vancouver Canucks, Thomas posted his fourth shutout in the 2011 Playoffs with a 4-0 victory. His outstanding performance not only won him the Conn Smythe Trophy, but the 2011 ESPY award for Best Championship Performance.
