Patrick Roy won a total of four Stanley Cups and three Vezina Trophies throughout his NHL career. In 2000-01, as the starting goalie for the Avalanche, Roy helped the team win the Presidents' Trophy, which is awarded to the team with the best regular season record. Roy faced his idol, Martin Broduer of the New Jersey Devils, in the Stanley Cup Finals. The Devils had a 3-2 series lead, but the Avalanche went on to win games 6 and 7 to win their second Stanley Cup. Roy was named playoff MVP for the third time in his career. Roy has signed the bottom segment of the first #3 and inscribed "96-01 SC Champs" on the second #3 on the back of the jersey in silver paint pen. Roy's signature and inscription are deemed authentic by virtue of Upper Deck Authenticated's Five-Step Process.
