Born in Quebec City; Roy was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in 1984 and made his full-time debut in 1985-86; when he led Montreal to a stunning Stanley Cup Championship at just 20 years old -- winning the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP and announcing himself as a generational talent. He won a second Stanley Cup with Montreal in 1993; again claiming the Conn Smythe. After a celebrated but turbulent tenure in Montreal; Roy was traded to the Colorado Avalanche in December 1995; where he won two more Stanley Cups (1996 and 2001) and a third Conn Smythe in 2001 -- making him the only player in NHL history to win the Conn Smythe Trophy three times.
