In one of the finest rookie seasons in NHL history, Teemu Selanne set a goals record that may never be broken. The Winnipeg Jets right wing scored 76 goals, shattering the previous rookie record of 53 set by New York Islanders right wing Mike Bossy in 1977-78. Since then, only Washington's Alex Ovechkin has scored more than 45 goals as a rookie when he notched 52 in 2005-06. Selanne, who was selected with the 10th overall pick in the 1988 NHL Draft, scored his first goal in his second game, notched his first hat trick in his fifth game and recorded his first four-goal game in his 63rd career game. He had at least one point in 11 of his first 12 career games. He earned his first career playoff hat trick in a 5-4 win over the Canucks in Game 3 of the Clarence Campbell Conference division semifinals. He finished his amazing career with 22 hat tricks thanks to his powerful slap shot, as seen here as a Winnipeg Jet. What makes this piece stand out is the 3-D effect thanks to an authentic Winnipeg Jets puck actually breaking through the Plexiglas. Selanne has signed this Winnipeg Breaking Through 24" x 16" image in silver paint pen. His signature is deemed authentic by virtue of Upper Deck Authenticated's Five Step Process.
