A 10-time All-Star; Kell won the 1949 AL Batting Title with a .343 average -- edging out Ted Williams by the slimmest of margins (.3429 to .3428) in one of the closest batting races in MLB history. He also played for the Boston Red Sox; Chicago White Sox; Baltimore Orioles; and Cleveland Indians before retiring.
