Gary Player had already captured a career Grand Slam as well as six major championships overall when he began the 1974 PGA Tour season. After capturing the Masters Tournament title in April, he went into the British Open at Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Club – the 103rd edition of the Open Championship – as one of the favorites, along with Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino and Johnny Miller. Player tied for the first-round lead then never relinquished it, shooting a 69-68-75-70—282 for a four-stroke win over hometown favorite Peter Oosterhuis. In this image, he is putting on the 18th and final hole to wrap up the championship. Player has signed and inscribed "1974 Open Champ" on this limited edition (50) Putt For The Win 16" x 20" image in black paint pen. His signature is deemed authentic by virtue of Upper Deck Authenticated's Five Step Process.
