Grant Fuhr was born in Spruce Grove, Alberta, a small city just a few kilometers outside of Edmonton. His future teammate and fellow Hockey Hall of Famer Mark Messier comes from the same small town of approximately 18,000. Fuhr considered being selected in the first round of the 1981 NHL Entry Draft a great achievement, and it came with a nice bonus of being selected by his hometown team. Fuhr began playing hockey at the age of 5, and since day one, he was the goaltender. Fuhr went on to appear in five National Hockey League All-Star Games and won the Vezina Tophy, awarded to the NHL's top goaltender, in the 1987-88 season with the Oilers. Fuhr was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2003 and became the first black person to achieve this great feat. This iconic logo from a team that has been honored with dynasty status by the Hockey Hall of Fame is featured on this acrylic Edmonton Oilers puck. Fuhr has signed the puck in black paint pen. Fuhr's signature was witnessed under UDA's Five Step Authentication Process.
